Bruce Pearl Accepts Job As V.P. Of Marketing With Wholesale Grocery Company
The former Tennessee basketball coach -- who's under a three-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA after committing recruiting violations and lying about them to investigators -- has accepted a job as vice president of marketing with a wholesale grocery company in Knoxville.
The company, H.T. Hackney, announced today that Pearl will go to work on Thursday, according to Govolsxtra.com.
Pearl was a marketing and economics major at the Boston College School of Management, so let's not assume this was a mercy hiring by the company's CEO, Bill Sansom, a former trustee at Tennessee.
"I've known Bruce Pearl for years — his leadership, competitiveness and understanding of marketing is a great fit for our organization," Sansom said in a statement.
Pearl also had been offered a coaching position with the Texas Legends of the NBA's Development League.
