Cal's Mike Montgomery Given Clean Bill Of Health After Surgery

Cal men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery has been given a "clean bill of health" by his doctors less than a week after undergoing successful surgery, the athletic department reported Monday.

Montgomery, who is declining at this point to provide the reason for his surgery, hopes to be back in his office later this week and perhaps on the court for practice by Thursday.

Montgomery, 64, is in his fourth season as coach of the Bears, one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 Conference. Cal opens its season Nov. 11 against UC Irvine at Haas Pavilion.
