Radford Suspends Head Coach For Remainder Of Season

Roanoke.com (Va.)

RADFORD -- Radford University has suspended men’s basketball coach Brad Greenberg for the last four regular-season games for NCAA violations tied to impermissible team travel and associated extra benefits for ineligible player Masse Doumbe.

“Once we learned of the violations, we immediately contacted the Big South Conference and NCAA offices and imposed what we believe are appropriate sanctions at this time,” Radford athletic director Robert Lineburg said in a statement. “A thorough investigation of the violations is currently being conducted by the NCAA.”

Assistant Rick Hall will be acting coach in Tuesday’s Dedmon Center regular-season finale against Presbyterian as well as the three games that complete the season. Rick Callahan and Cedric Smith will continue as assistant coaches.

“My actions, which I know were in error, resulted in NCAA violations and I regret my decisions," Greenberg said in a statement. "I apologize to the team, our administration and supporters of Radford University basketball.”

Radford is struggling through a 5-20, 2-13 in the conference season.
