Stetson Names Casey Alexander Head Coach
DELAND, Fla. -- Stetson has hired former Belmont assistant Casey Alexander as its new men's basketball coach.
The 38-year-old Alexander replaces Derek Waugh, who resigned after leading the Hatters to an 8-23 record.
Alexander built an impressive resume with Belmont, first as a player, and later as an assistant coach. He had served as associate head coach under Rick Byrd since 2002.
Belmont won four Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season championships and four league tournament titles during Alexander's 16 years on staff. In addition to making the NCAA tournament four times, Belmont made one NIT appearance.
